Alkhozama to build Sharia-complaint resort in Maldives




Saudi’s Alkhozama has begun doing feasibility assessments to develop a fully Sharia-compliant hotel in the Maldives. 

Alkhozama Management’s vice president Hussein Ali Hatata said that the company is looking to expand to the Maldives and Dubai. The company is now looking for an ideal Maldivian island to develop a resort in. 

“Maldives is a Muslim nation, and a destination that is adored in the Gulf region” Hatata said “Therefore developing a hotel and resort there fits our policy”.

ADK, a local corporation, had also attempted to develop an ‘Islamic’ resort in the Maldives with the assistance of a Turkish company. However, it was forced to an end due to a legal complication in the joint venture. read more
