Speaking to Vnews , Hajj Corporation’s Managing Director Yameen Idrees said that the company is greatly concerned with making investments that are in accordance with Islamic law using the money given to them, and increasing the company income to provide cheap services while maintaining their service standards. Yameen said that the President has given his guarantee of providing an island for the company to develop the resort. He added that an island had still not been chosen, and that they are currently focusing on the necessary work to be done on the policy level regarding the project. Alkhozama to build Sharia-complaint resort in Maldives

Saudi’s Alkhozama has begun doing feasibility assessments to develop a fully Sharia-compliant hotel in the Maldives.  Alkhozama Management’s vice president Hussein Ali Hatata said that the company is looking to expand to the Maldives and Dubai. The company is now looking for an ideal Maldivian island to develop a resort in.  “Maldives is a Muslim nation, and a destination that is adored in the Gulf region” Hatata said “Therefore developing a hotel and resort there fits our policy”. ADK, a local corporation, had also attempted to develop an ‘Islamic’ resort in the Maldives with the assistance of a Turkish company.
